Job Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Must be competent in reading comprehension, active listening and learning, instructing, or instructional learning; learning new strategies, speaking, clerical thinking, service orientation, writing, and monitoring. Familiarity of customer and personal services, computers and electronics, and communication and media is also required. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar, and the knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems are also requisite; must also have comprehension of word processing, and the managing files and records.
Job Duties: As a high school librarian, you will be responsible for searching and locating standard reference materials, also answering any reference questions requested. In addition, you will also be explaining the usage of library resources, equipment, services, and providing information about library policies. Coding, classifying, and cataloging: books, publications, films, audiovisual aids, and other library material based on subject matter or standard library classification systems is also required within this position. For anyone who is interested within this position, your duties will include gathering information, updating and using relevant knowledge, interacting with computers, and communicating with supervisors, peers, or subordinates. In addition, applicant must also be able to establish and maintain interpersonal relations, training and teaching others, performing and working directly with others, process information, identify objects, actions, and events, and interpret the meaning of information for others.
Job Description: The high school librarian position is open to all qualifying applicants whom are seriously committed to their work. This is a very fast pace, yet tranquil setting which requires a lot of patients, skills and knowledge to perform specific task. Applicant must be proficient within the latest electronic media technologies, possess a high levels of reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, along with exceptional interpersonal skills.
Team Organization
Team organization is very important in any work environment. Working as a high school librarian within a team, will greatly benefit the library’s organizational and operational success. Team organization comes to great advantage for busy days at the library, wherein that most of the customers will need additional assistance. Librarians, desk clerks and other employees of the library, will be able to work together to aid to the assistance of the library’s customers to continue the efficiency of operations. In my personal opinion, there are no disadvantages in working within a team, as a high school librarian, as well as for within any other work position; team unity, or organization is very important for any position, job and company.
